Elegoo Saturn

I purchased this printer in order to make resin models with fewer dimensional constraints. With a 8.9” 4K monochrome screen and a 200m build height, this widely-anticipated machine epitomized the exponential progress of consumer-level MSLA technology. The 4K pixel density allows for a substantially larger LCD than previously available machines without making any sacrifices in the way of resolution. This, combined with the impressive 7.87” build height, results in a print volume roughly 5x that of most consumer-level MSLA printers. To further sweeten the pot, a monochrome LCD means that UV light can be delivered much more efficiently, reducing necessary exposure times by as much as 60-70%. This translates to several hours saved on every print, along lower operating costs due to the longevity of monochrome LCD screens.

Drain Bracket

Once a print has completed, the build plate is left hanging in midair, parallel to the resin vat underneath, with substantial amounts of liquid resin still clinging to both the plate and the print. To simplify clean-up and minimize material waste, a PETG drain bracket was printed to hang the build plate at a 45° angle, allowing excess material to more easily drain back into the vat.
