LED Mushroom Decorations
I created various LED mushroom interior decorations using LED bulbs, resistors, electrical wire, paper clips, soldering tools, paint, silicone caulk, cling wrap, and driftwood. For each mushroom, I created a rough frame out of bent paperclips and soldered LEDs, resistors, and wire together to provide illumination. Two sheets of cling wrap were then laid out. I mixed a portion of silicone with a small amount of paint, and distributed it between these cling wrap sheets. By encapsulating the silicone in cling wrap, I was able to manipulate its form before it cured, pulling one portion over a round object to emulate a mushroom cap, and rolling the other portion out around the frame and LEDs to create a stem. Once cured, these parts were then adhered together, along with a small cut-out disc of paper towel to diffuse the LED light. I then went out and hunted down nicely shaped pieces of wood to display the mushrooms on, drilled them out, and fed the wires through them. Through clever routing and placement of fake grass and other little touches, I was able to fully conceal the wires and power each of these decorations using a AA battery pack. The result was some very pleasing fantasy interior decorations:
